I'm so tired.

So this is probably my go-to outfit as of late- trousers, as opposed to jeans, wedges and a shirt. I wore it last Thursday to a digital talk at My-Wardrobe. The jumper is J.W Anderson AW11 I got 'off-shore'* on eBay, by hounding a seller (I know my bad) after seeing it at the sample sale and not buying it. The coat is Marant. I pined for it for ages, got it and then saw this one and really wanted it instead- figures. Not really much outfit inspiration as of late, I'm not sure what I'm loving really atm apart from peplum. Hmm...

Sometimes you have to admit defeat... and by defeat I actually mean attending River Island's press day and loving it.
Because actually when it comes to certain high street fast-fashion brands, I (yes moi) can be a snob.
So when I hopped over to River Island's SS12 preview and saw Versace-inspired prints, metallics, acids, scuba wear, crop tops and masses of florals I was pleasantly to surprised.

I'm always intrigued with retailers buying choices per season, as many tend to take on vast scopes of designers (to cater to all) as opposed to really paying attention to what their consumers want. But with My-Wardrobe taking on Carven, Theysken's Theory *drool* and Burberry Brit to name a few this season, I'm particularly enamoured with EVERYTHING! Methinks the white leather J Brand babies will definitely be on my wish/year list!

I'm lucky to have the friends I have. Especially when you turn up at said friends houses' in converse, because you're panicking about not having anything to wear, and they tell you to calm down, and then proceed to dress you for the evening (leather, ponyskin and satin fyi)!

Last night I went to the Company high street fashion awards at Shoreditch House decked out in my girl Charlie May- such.a.babe!

I wish I could get more detail on this dress, but how amaze is it's open side? I can't stop giving her credit, as for her first collection it's pretty BOSS. Here's a little review on NJAL.

I was out to support my beautiful friend Jen, one of the faces of eBay's shopping outlet.

So here are the boots I bought in Antwerp; pretty comfy, albeit one size too big. I'm kind of in love with them though.
I got the bracelet on Tuesday at a press day and haven't taken it off since. I just love tat (in the nicest possible way)!

Hands up if you've bought a bag to match your shoes... and then the phone case to match your bag... and then the... yeah I'm with you.

So now I'm blogging from bed with a laptop to match my pyjamas- go figure!

Last week I popped down to My-Wardrobe for their AW11 preview in association with Dell. With My-Wardrobe re-launching their blog and Dell having recently launched this Inspiron 15R 'Switch' for the ~~aesthetically pleased~~ fashion-savvy consumer, it was a match made in social media heaven! The Switch allows you to literally switch hardtop lids whenever you fancy. Plaid big in SS12? Switch. Feeling Blue? Switch. What more could a girl want?*

Probably the (best and) most surreal presentation I've ever been to. Picture the scene... ghetto fab chicks, TLC, The Brat, Rude boys, 80's throwbacks kickin' it with their homies, whilst we sipped champagne and took pictures of them... whilst they (yep the models had digi cams and cell phones) took pictures of us.

I've been meaning to post my LFW highlights for the past two weeks, but mostly I've been playing catch up. I'm not one of those people who can do a show and then go home and do a post. I'm more a do a show and then go party. So I didn't... and now I feel kinda sad because Milan and Paris have passed. But I'll still post them, cos I want to.

But for now, above is some of what I've been up to for the ~~lost~~ last two weeks.

It's not all been bad. A lot's been quite good.

Graduate Fashion Week 2011

A couple of weeks ago I attended graduate fashion week, and whilst some don't always tick all the right boxes, I always look forward to seeing the creations of next generations designers.
Highlights of the show were Meg Cornwell's futuristic feminine designs; with her peplum skirts and tubing, accompanied by 60's style wispy hair and red lips. Karanjit Sogi was another of my favourites; with his resort-like club tropicana floral and acid brights.

P.S I may, or may not be in love with the model in the first shot!

Hi Hi.

Sorry for the slowdown of posts MAN.

Along with negotiating a move and a new job, I happened to lose my camera charger somewhere between NY and London (and got charged £55 for a new one *tears*) so I've not been able to blog much (and didn't want to bore you with re-posting net junk).
So anyway this is a kind of cliched high-street-doppelganger-fashion-aficionado outfit I suppose, a la Marant SS11. Kinda glad you can't see the gauze detail on the dress because I get that itchy, cringy feeling when I see bloggers rocking their string vests circa 1990's yardie 'fashion'. Yep, I said it.
But actually the dress is my sisters from a few years back (I think) and I've wanted cowboy-esque boots like these since wayyyy before Marant started popping them out at £500 a pair, ya. Or maybe Topshop is just really good at convincing me that I'm really individual *confused face*.

The Box Boutique

Barqoue decor, gothic vibes and a party atmosphere... The Box Boutique is definitely the latest kitsch luxury shopping gem!

I was super excited to receive an invite from the owners of The Box Boutique to privately view their collection of shoes and accessories, especially because I was gutted when I missed their opening party back in March! So on Tuesday I popped down to the boutique, tucked away in trendy Bond Street.

Established by Russian sisters and Central Saint Martin graduates Yulia and Elena Pashevkina, the store boast both established and emerging designers such as Beatrix Ong and Bionda Castana to contemporary favourites such as Litter SF and A. Morir.
Whilst I was instantly made to feel welcome by their fun vibe, I was more impressed by the gorgeous decor- red velvet renaissance chairs and black wax dripped chandeliers- yum! I spent a few hours trying on shoes and body accessories, pawing Tess Van Ghert bags and generally enjoying an afternoon of dress up!

In a dream world I'd own the black and gold McQueen-inspired Iris Van Herpen x United shoes that didn't want to leave my feet!

Celine Resort 2012

It was Clara who alerted me to the wonders of Celine Resort 2012 via bbm. And whilst I was all 'yeah I'll check style.com later, I'm watching Hollyoaks', later I was like *fangirl gasp*'I die'.
I really hate people who are all like 'ya, everything xxxxx does is amazing, ya?'- Exhibit A: Acne Resort 2012- C.R.A.P.

But this, THIS is is good.

For this year, I have had no direction. I have bought nothing. I have been to New York and back and still bought nothing. I have had no inspiration. I have been bored. I have then been bored down with colour-blocking.

This is good.

As sale season is now amongst us, '4or Ways To Wear' will be on hiatus for a month *sob sob*.

Who am I kidding... who doesn't love a sale?!

Ok, so I'll be back bringing you all the AW11 trends and ways to style them in July. But for now, I've decided to pick my Top 5 items from online shopping mecca (and one of my fave places to shop) My-wardrobe's SS11 sale.

1. Acne Poppy Red Moorea Maxi Dress

Sexy as hell! With a long hemline, as well as being bold and bright, it ticks all the right boxes this season. When layered it also doubles up perfectly as a skirt- meaning double your money's worth!

2. Sportmax Jonny Silk Wide Leg Trousers

These trousers are amazing. Fact. Continuing the colour trend from this years catwalk favourites Jil Sander and Prada, these block-coloured-beauties, will give a zesty kick to dreary summer wardrobes.

3. Equipment Python Signature Shirt

Equipment shirts are the epitome of luxury. Every woman should own one. I'm a HUGE fan of animal print (another one of this seasons big trends) and snake print in particular- the trick is not to go OTT! How amazing would this shirt look with the Sportmax trousers? *dies*

4. Phillip Lim K C Top Handle Satchel

Hello, I love you! This Phillip Lim bag is a chic, grown-up take on the timeless satchel. When it comes to bags, there are way too many faddy shapes and sizes. Stick to a classic style like this and never go wrong.

5. Acne Darling Dress

An edgy take on the classic LBD. This lightly draped, slit-back, fun little number is perfect for summer. Wear it during the day with flats and a skinny leather belt (but I'll be wearing it at night with my highest heels)!

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

(Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY)

I can't believe I was actually lucky enough to see this exhibition. It has to be one of the most breathtaking collections of history I have ever seen.
I purposely tried not to over-edit these shots so you could get a feel of how eerie it was walking through the 6, or so rooms (curated by the genius that is Andrew Bolton) showcasing McQueen's 19 year contribution to fashion. Imagine dark-lit rooms, a spine-chilling score and echoes of distressed voices- perfection. What was more disturbing were McQueen's quotes, highlighting his depression, angst and obsession with death.

Note. These shots are actually contraband, because you aren't actually allowed to take photos in the exhibition... but I just couldn't help it. So, please link back to me if you use any.

Illegally drinking out of brown paper on the sidewalk, people pole-dancing on the subway, thrifting in Williamsburg, paying over-the-odds in Times Square, drooling over hot Mexican boys.

So much fun!

2. Vintage flatforms- $16.50 at Beacon's Closet. I think they belonged to a granny, and definitely need to dye them black.

3. Rayban 2140 54mm- A necessity.

Just a few things I picked up in New York. But for those that know me better, I'm most excited about these:

New York was AMAZING to say the least.

I'll do a visual diary post later on in the week, as well as show you the shots I took at the Met x Savage Beauty. But, for now I'm off back to bed, as I'm super jetlagged- yuck!

Talons at Tillie's

When I was invited down to Tillie's Nail Lounge in Maida Vale for a chance to try out the popular 'minx' nail technique, I was over the moon to say the least. Not only because I'm an overly girly-girl (manicures, eyelashes, hair extensions you name it) but after seeing Beyonce (don't laugh) fashioning these babies, I couldn't wait to get my paws (no pun intended) on them.

Based on a leafy Maida Vale road, surrounded by kitsch boutiques and frequented by school-run yummy mummy's it was an all around chilled out experience. Since I'm more used to the faced paced buzzing American nail salons and Wah's, I was pleasantly surprised by their luxurious lounge beds, home-made furnishings and array of original artwork from local artists, making it feel like a girly home away from home.

I can thoroughly recommend Tillie's as a great place for a manicure, pedicure, girly get-together or even a coffee- and being the recipients of the 2011 Professional Beauty Award for best nail salon, it seems I'm not the only one!

...70's... Vintage Gucci Vibes... Club Tropicana... Cruise Control...

I've always been a fan of Reiss for their affordable luxury. But I just couldn't get enough of their AW11 offerings because I'm such a a big fan of anything OTT! With clear 70's luxury-cruise-collection-vibes throughout, it's floppy hats and swing suits and sooooooo perfect.

Spotted: an abundance of sequins, faux-fur, Gucci inspired bamboo and horse-bit accessories, continued winter colour-blocking and a 40th anniversary collection (which I wish I could have shown you). Like flashing my sequin hotpants doesn't give me another reason to be totes looking forward to winter- sexual!

Fyi, I need that white playsuit in my life too!

Rare & Paprika AW11 Press Day

You've probably gathered that I love a bit a' print and I a bit a' florals, but what I love more is dressing up. So I'll admit that to you now that my guilty pleasure is definitely attending Rare's press day every season.
I unashamedly love party dresses (don't believe me look here, here or even here!) and whilst you'll probably never see Alex Gerrard gracing my blog (she was snapped in Acne's extreme dress though) I revel in embracing my girliness and throwing on a good old dress* and a pair of 5-inchers.
On Thursday I popped down to Rare and Paprika's press day to check out their AW11 offerings, and also got my nails generously done by OPI and lashes extended by Lash-Out Lashes- yummy!
I was happy to see that they continued with the floral, print and pleats trends from this season. I adored the floral maxi jumpsuit and turquoise Burberry-esque offering, but my faves had to be the petal-printed one-shoulder number and Paprika's peacock print bustier dress <3

Keeping it super simple these days (sorry kids) because I'm finding it really hard to determined what I like. Maybe it's because I don't like summer, maybe it's because I'm not inspired. Apart from the below post, I'm not really into a particular style of dressing and there's nothing that I really crave *violins* lolz.
Plus, cos I've got rid of most of my belongings I don't really have much to choose from; a few pairs of jeans and some boots at most haha- nothing really directional, nothing really fashion. Like I always say, I'd rather have nothing than crap! Anyway, today I rescued these jeans from the crapper and cut up the knees and bottoms. I like. The shirt was given to me by Clara... animal...Ra!

Ramzi is a 21 year old artist and designer, who recently designed a capsule collection for Brown's Focus, alongside his studies- wowee! The portrait was created using a mixture of water colour, felt tip pen, pencil and digital editing <3 <3 <3!

'4or Ways To Wear'

Introducing '4or Ways To Wear' my new monthly feature, where I style a current trend and generally show you the ways in which I'd wear it. Simple.

Kicking of the hooha is PRINT (one of my faves). I'll warn you now that I generally find it hard to wear one item of print at a time.

I'll also tell you now that in no way am I preaching to you about what you should be wearing... this is purely to give you inspiration on how you can wear a piece you may be having trouble styling or be desperate to try.

I also want it to be as interactive as possible, so if there's something YOU want me to try, gimme a holla and I'll be your guinea pig!

Look 1 (OTT Print):

- I love this quirky blazer from Paul & Joe; the colours are so perfect for summer. An easy way to wear 'in your face' print without looking OTT (because it is!) is to extract one of it's main colours (I chose pink) and incorporate it somewhere else within an outfit. I chose to colour-block these amazing pink Zara trousers (but I think it would also look amazing with these babies).

Look 2 (Animal Print):

- Equipment shirts are sooooo good! I'm particularly in love with this one and generally anything animal print! Animal print is generally an acquired taste (no-one wants to look like Rick James!) but anyone can work it, as long as it's toned down. I chose to work the masculine look here- no fuss docs and slouchy shorts. A snakeskin/leopard print shirt also works really well with coloured trousers (like the pink Zara pair) and simple flats for an updated summer look.

Look 3 (Chic Print):

- I wore these shorts a LFW and fell in love with them! Because of their muted print, these work particularly well with smarter looks. I love pairing black and navy and these work really well with the monochrome dotted cardie and fitted cropped blazer. I don't believe that you should always pair shorts with oversized blazers- fitted blazers also work really well when aiming for smarter looks, creating a slimline silhouette.

Look 4 (Classic Print):

I think people forget that polka dots are actually classed as print, because they're almost their own entity. I adore them; they're classic and work with everything. Dots work really well with other dots (shapes and sizes up to you). I paired this cut-on-the-bias Topshop dress with a fitted white and navy spot blazer and sandals, for a simple summer look.

S*it Happens...

I thought I'd keep you posted on what's been happening over the past few days...

I always thought I was pretty sassy; that was until last Thursday when I was randomly physically attacked on the bus by a crazy woman. Things like that put things into perspective, and although I gave as good as I got, my face is pretty scratched up and my rib hurts when I sneeze, haha. So anyway I've been feeling pretty sorry for myself and generally not leaving my house, because tbh I'm pretty vain when it comes to my appearance (yep, I said it).

So one thing I've learnt from the situation is that I've got some pretty great friends, Fiona (who came to my rescue) Kit and Clara to name a few, plus Jen who spent time with me on her birthday (still sad I missed the celebrations) and Dan, who checked in from Spain- thank you, love you.

I hope everyone is having a great Easter...

I gave up candy for Lent, so I've been stuffing my face with mini eggs all morning- eek! We're just about to have dinner, but earlier I took my favourite person (how cute is my nephew?) out to play, and just chilled out and enjoyed the sun.

My-Wardrobe AW11 Press Day

Last Wednesday I popped down to the Oui rooms for My-Wardrobe's AW11 press day and caught up with the lovely Susie. Now I'm just going to admit it... press days can be tedious; running around camera snapping and note-taking! But it definitely puts a spring in your step when heading to press days for e/tailers that carry Acne, Helmut Lang and Phillip Lim & Theory *dies*.

I was uber impressed by the buyers spot-on choices for next season; implementing trends such as print and pop colours that will still be massive well into AW.
With Acne and Lim amongst my favourite labels, for their clean silhouettes, texture combinations and trend driven pieces, the abundance made me giddy with excitement. My faves from the preview were definitely the M Missoni suit, Acne wedge brogues (which seem to have creeped onto ever fashionistas AW wish list) Theory's pink fuzzy cardigan.

Super excited by the M Missoni range too. I've always been a fan of Missoni, and am always on the look out for their vintage cardigans and jackets. I for one have been dying over the M Missoni lurex two piece suit for months (even putting it on my birthday wish list!) and when I saw it in ... *dum dum dum* the new AW11 plum colorway I decided that I needed it too!

I for one worried about my wallet come AW!!

MTV Push x CK One

Hands down the BEST dress I've ever worn; very tight, very pink, very leather, very sexy, very inappropriate <3 <3 <3

I didn't plan on wearing it with flats (docs at that) but east London parties are known for being notoriously grimey... (note my fancy surroundings?) even if they are held by some fancy pants (geddit?)

Which brings me to why theses outfit shots are kinda poor. I brought my old digi-cam, because no one wants to take their fancy camera to an east London party. Not forgetting that, if you have a bag AND a big old camera it doesn't leave much room for carrying around four drinks at a time (which we did) when there's a free bar. But more importantly because after you've had said four drinks it's highly likely that you'll drop said camera.

So the MTV x CK One party was pretty awesomeness, but the venue was shoddy and I didn't see Lara stone! I did however re-live my youth by taking a few pictures with a couple of semi-famous people (my 16 year old self would be proud) and trying to run past the lady guarding the CK Box entrance, when she said it was broken. I really wish I had pictures (or ones I could show you!) from the night, but meh. In a nutshell, there were lots of models, lots of 'fashion' people and you could buy underwear from a vending machine...?

Last night at the Furla 'Candy Bag' event hosted by Susie Bubble & my friend Kit Lee (on behalf of Shini Park). I
was actually surprised at just how good the bags were. I committed to the market bag, but if I had known how thick and durable Furla's take on the pop colour rubber/acetate trend would be, I probably would have bought one (especially because they RRP for only £170!)

Btw, apologies for the crappy shots, the lighting in the shop wasn't the best for taking photos (and I may or may not have drank one to many mimosas).

Wore this to the Rockit bloggers event organised by Nik yesterday, which turned out to be the most perfect Sunday afternoon (more on that to come later). I wanted this dress for a really long time, but it's kind of short, so I cut up some tights and hey presto, cycling shorts!
Fyi, I'm kind of scared of sandals (anyone else feel the same way?) I don't get them, and I never really buy them (maybe feet are my problem) but the weathers hotting up a bit too quickly for me to keep wearing my trustie ankle boots for much longer, so I'm gonna look for some this week. Eek!

Last week I popped down to H.PR for their AW11 press day. One of my fave PR companies, I almost feel like a kid in a candy store every time I visit the showroom, because everything is sooooo good!

Hi Hi.

Dug this antique victoriana dress out of my wardrobe to give it a well deserved spin. It's one of my favourite and most delicate pieces in my wardrobe (it's actually falling apart) and I've been dying to wear it for about a year now, lolz. Anyway, I always thought I'd wear it in winter with thick tights and ridiculously high wedges, but I decided against it this morning in favour of my mums vintage granny boots instead.

Off to a BBQ now.

Highlights of the day.

Today I popped down to the Strand for the Savoy Hotel press days. I adored these two pieces by Christopher Beales at Forward PR. The craftsmanship on both was impeccable, and I still can't believe I didn't take a shot of the back of the second dress; it had a split back with double panel closings *dies*. I'd never heard of Beales before, but was told by Courtney that he's senior tailor at Alexander McQueen- figures!

Apart from a real handbag, sometimes you just need something that you can throw all your crap into, no?
A kind of fuss-free, unpretentious, throw-you-on-the-floor anti-hero type bag. I'm really not a bag person and I'm still looking for the perfect not-a-handbag-bag to replace the plain black tote (I got free at a LFW show to add insult to injury) I've been lugging around for six months. So anyway I think I'll take this.

That piano you've probably seen plonked on Gaga's head, or that latex dress you've seen Rhianna writhing around in, most probably came from the Haus of Blow*.

Last Thursday I popped into Blow PR's press day to see what outrageous AW11 fashion fancies awaited me... and yep, the refreshing leaders of the alternative pack didn't leave me disappointed:

I have to hand it to Blow. Without agencies like them supporting avant-garde talent, fashion would be a numbingly boring and generic place. Concept stores like Machine-A, stylists like Anna Trevelyan and genius fashion-hybrid concepts, such as Charlie Le Mindu's haute coiffure would be few and far between.
I mean honestly, who doesn't need a dose of latex or studs in their life...?

*Technically there's no Haus, but it does't stop their designers from being a pretty rad collective!
